Jackie Wheelock

Vocals, Guitar, Concertina

Jackie's strong vocal stylings are a signature feature of Blackstone Run. She grew up singing in her church choir, and her other musical interests include classical chorale repertoire, musical theater, and 40's Big Band music.

Phip Wheelock

Vocals, Guitar, Mandolin

Phip is an accomplished vocalist, fingerstyle and flatpick guitar player. Previous bands include "The Sun Mountain Band" (www.sunmountainfiddler.com) and "Renya" (Rochester, NY), "Bill Hall and the North Wind" (RI), and "Bluegrass Special" (CT). He has sung with classically-oriented ensembles including the Rochester Oratorio Society, Eastman-Rochester Chorus, Providence Singers and Opera Providence. Phip taught Bluegrass Academy guitar workshops at the 2007 and 2008 Joe Val Bluegrass Festivals, and teaches beginner & intermediate mandolin as well as beginner through advanced guitar at Mockingbird Music Company in Berlin, MA.

John Gotthardt

Vocals, Bass Guitar, Sound Engineering

John contributes an encyclopedic knowledge of folk music tradition, decades-long experience both as performer and managing folk music venues, and instinctive sense for musical arrangements to The Blackstone Run Band. His bass provides the rhythm and drive for the band and is the main ingredient in our instrumental sound.

Hope Swift

Vocals, Mandolin, Guitar

Hope's vocals, repertoire, dynamic stage presence and instrumental talents have added an exciting range of expression and depth to the band. She also teaches dance and performs locally with the "High Sierra Band".

Richard "Dock" Murdock

Vocals, Dobro, Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin

Dock is a fluid multi-instrumentalist whose dobro and banjo leads add power and virtuosity to Blackstone Run performances. Ever the musical traveler, Dock is also a member of two other bands: "High Sierra Band" (with Hope), and the Dover, MA-based Bluegrass band "Centre Streeters" (since ’85), and has performed with countless other bands and choral groups. Add his engaging stage presence and ready smile, and you have a musician's musician and a can't-miss crowd-pleaser.
